CSV to JSON Array Converter

Turn CSV records into a JSON array using the first row as property names.

Work stays in your browserLocal tool processing

Choose a CSV. Values remain strings so identifiers keep leading zeros.

Private by designYour input stays on your device. Processing happens in this browser.
Your workspace

Start with a file

CSV, TSV, or TXT · UTF-8 only · up to 10 MB. Original text and identifiers are retained; parsing happens when you run. Drop here, or use the file picker.

Paste CSV instead (optional)

Optional alternative to a file. Editing this text removes its selected file; source text is never reformatted during loading.

Conversion settings

Leave blank to detect comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe. Otherwise enter one character.

Instructions and examples

From input to output

  1. Choose or paste a CSV with a header row.
  2. Check Input delimiter, then select Convert to JSON.
  3. Inspect the array of records and download JSON.

Settings and result behavior

  • Headers become property names and each data row becomes an object.
  • Every cell remains a string. Text that looks like a number, boolean or date is not converted.

A worked example

Input
id,ready
001,true
002,false
Settings
Comma delimiter; no type conversion options.
Expected result
[{"id":"001","ready":"true"},{"id":"002","ready":"false"}]

Supported input and limits

Choose a UTF-8 CSV, TSV or TXT file, or open “Paste CSV instead”. Use comma, semicolon, tab or pipe separators. A header row with unique nonblank names and the same field count on every row is required. JSON output is formatted with indentation and capped conservatively at 20 MB.

10 MB and 50,000 rows; unique nonblank headers and rectangular records required. All cells stay strings, including leading-zero identifiers. Duplicate headers and missing/extra cells are rejected.

If the result is unexpected

  • Duplicate or blank headers are rejected because they could lose property data.
  • If the receiving API needs numbers or booleans, use its documented schema and transform a copy deliberately; this tool does not infer types.

Check before using the result

Check quoted IDs, empty strings and property names. Parse the downloaded JSON in the intended application before substituting it for a production export.
