This is a positional line comparison, not an aligned or word-level diff. One inserted line can make subsequent lines appear different. Up to 1 MB and 20,000 lines per input.
Instructions and examples
From input to output
- Add Original text and Changed text, typed or imported from TXT.
- Select Compare texts.
- Read the line-numbered minus/plus differences and copy or download the report.
Settings and result behavior
- Lines are compared by position, not by a word-level edit algorithm.
- Spaces and capitalization are significant. A new line near the top can make many later lines appear changed.
A worked example
- Input
Original: Hello Draft Changed: Hello Ready
- Settings
- No normalization settings.
- Expected result
Line 2 shows − Draft and + Ready.
Supported input and limits
Type or paste text, or use the TXT import control for a UTF-8 text file. PDF and Word documents cannot be imported into this text workspace. Download TXT saves the difference report, not a merged draft.

If the result is unexpected
- For many differences after one inserted line, align the text or review the line shift first.
- “No line differences” means the line values match under line-ending handling; it does not compare document formatting.
Check before using the result
Inspect the original and changed drafts for context. A report is a review aid and cannot decide which version is correct.

Practical guides
- Remove Line Breaks from Text Copied from a PDF
Join hard-wrapped lines while preserving paragraph gaps. Review headings, tables and hyphenated words before reusing copied text.
