Instructions and examples

From input to output

  1. Type or paste into Text to count, use Paste, or choose UTF-8 TXT.
  2. Wait for the live statistics to update; there is no run button.
  3. Review Words, Characters and the secondary statistics after the current-text confirmation. Copy the draft or download the statistics TXT.

Settings and result behavior

  • Words split on whitespace; punctuation attached to a word does not become a separate word.
  • Characters count Unicode code points, including line breaks. A visible emoji sequence can contain multiple code points.
  • Blank lines separate paragraphs. Reading uses 200 words/minute and speaking 130.

Supported input and limits

Typed/pasted text or UTF-8 .txt, up to 1 MB and 20,000 lines. Copy text preserves your draft; Download statistics TXT saves the current counts, counting rules and time estimates.

Up to 1 MB and 20,000 lines, typed or loaded from a UTF-8 TXT file. Words split on whitespace; characters count Unicode code points including line breaks. Sentence boundaries are approximate. Counts may differ from school or publisher rules; reading and speaking times are estimates.

If the result is unexpected

  • If an input exceeds limits, counts show the last valid input. Reduce the draft before relying on them.
  • If Paste cannot access the clipboard, paste directly with Ctrl/Command + V.

Check before using the result

Confirm the counting rules required by your school or publisher. Sentence detection is approximate, and reading/speaking estimates do not include pauses or delivery style.
