A worked example

Settings
Aspect ratio: 1:1 square.
Expected result
A centered 900 × 900 PNG; 350 pixels from each horizontal side are excluded.

Supported input and limits

Choose PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or BMP that your browser can decode. Animated sources are processed as a still image. Re-encoding can change metadata and color rendering. This tool exports PNG.

Cropping is centered; you cannot drag a focal point or select a custom crop area. Output is PNG. Up to 25 MB per file and 16 megapixels input/output.

If the result is unexpected

  • If a face or label near an edge is lost, use canvas padding to keep the whole image or reposition it in an editor.
  • A PNG can be larger than the original JPEG even though it has fewer pixels. Compress the reviewed output if needed.

Check before using the result

Check all four edges and the subject before replacing the source. Cropped content is absent from the downloaded copy.
