Image Compressor: Reduce JPG, PNG & WebP Size
Reduce JPEG, PNG or WebP file size with manual quality or a measured size target, then compare the original and exported image.
Choose images, adjust quality or size target, then compare the exports.
Instructions and examples
From input to output
- Choose or drop one or more images. Wait for the format and dimension checks.
- Choose Manual quality or Measured size target, then select the output format. Set Maximum width only if you want to reduce dimensions.
- Select Compress images. Compare each original and export, then download individual files or the ZIP.
Settings and result behavior
- Manual quality changes JPEG/WebP encoding. PNG has no adjustable lossy quality.
- Measured size target tries a bounded quality search at the chosen width. A target is an attempt, not an upload-size guarantee.
- JPEG background replaces transparent pixels. PNG and WebP can retain transparency.
A worked example
- Input
A 2400 × 1600 JPEG photo of a park.
- Settings
- JPEG output; Manual quality 80; Maximum width 1200 px.
- Expected result
A 1200 × 800 JPEG. File size is measured after encoding; it depends on the image and browser.
Supported input and limits
Still JPEG, PNG and WebP input; JPEG, PNG or WebP output. Animated files are declined. Result details report the actual output format and bytes.
Up to 20 still JPEG, PNG or WebP files, 25 MB and 16 megapixels each; 40 MB and 24 megapixels combined. Target size and smaller output are not guaranteed. PNG quality is not adjustable. JPEG flattens transparency onto the chosen background. Re-encoding discards original metadata; review orientation and colors.
If the result is unexpected
- If a target is missed, reduce Maximum width, try JPEG/WebP or raise the target. Re-encoding PNG can produce a larger file.
- For a format or memory error, try a smaller still image or batch. Check per-file error messages before processing.
Check before using the result
Zoom in on text, faces and fine detail. Check orientation, colors, actual bytes and MIME type. Another website may impose limits beyond file size.

Questions about this tool
Can I compress an image to 100 KB or 200 KB?
Choose Measured size target and enter the KB limit. The encoder tries a bounded quality search, but a target is not guaranteed. Check the reported bytes; reduce dimensions or change format if the destination allows it.
Why did my PNG become larger?
PNG has no adjustable lossy quality here. Re-encoding can produce more bytes. JPEG or WebP may be smaller when accepted, but JPEG replaces transparency with a solid background.
