DPI is used for the calculation only. This tool neither changes the image’s metadata nor adds image detail.
Animated files are processed as a still image. Re-encoding may change color profiles and metadata.
Instructions and examples
From input to output
- Enter Width in pixels and Height in pixels from the image’s dimensions.
- Enter the intended DPI and select Calculate print size.
- Read the physical dimensions in inches and centimetres.
Settings and result behavior
- Physical size equals pixel count divided by DPI. Increasing DPI makes the estimated print smaller.
- This calculator does not open an image, resample pixels or write DPI metadata into a file.
A worked example
- Input
Width 3000 px; Height 2400 px.
- Settings
- DPI: 300.
- Expected result
10.00 × 8.00 inches, or 25.40 × 20.32 cm.
Supported input and limits
Numeric pixel dimensions and positive DPI input. Download TXT saves the calculation; it does not create a print-ready image.
DPI is used for the calculation only. This tool neither changes the image’s metadata nor adds image detail.
If the result is unexpected
- If the proposed print is too small, consider a lower DPI only after checking the printer’s requirements and viewing distance.
- A high DPI number cannot improve a low-detail source. Confirm your actual pixel dimensions first.
Check before using the result
Check the printer’s required resolution, margins and crop. This estimate does not account for paper layout or color management.
